The 25th International Conference on Perspectives in Business Informatics Research (BIR 2026) continues the tradition of annual events focused on opening perspectives and stimulating new roadmaps for Business Informatics, Business Information Systems and Information Systems Engineering, considering both fundamental research and key application areas. BIR 2026 will provide a rich environment for exchanging research findings and ideas among scientists, practitioners, and doctoral students.
The main theme of the BIR 2026 conference, titled «Hybrid Intelligence in Business«, explores how human expertise and creativity can be complemented with intelligent solutions from the realm of Informatics and AI to increase organisational capabilities. This theme highlights the necessity of designing and implementing systems that enable effective collaboration between humans and machines, leveraging people’s creativity, contextual understanding, and ethical judgment alongside AI’s speed, scale, and pattern recognition capabilities. The conference welcomes (among other topics) contributions that investigate business process optimizations, human-computer interaction, advanced AI systems, or their convergence to understand how Hybrid Intelligence can drive superior decision-making, foster innovation, and lead to more effective, ethical, and competitive business models. It will explore how business informatics can be used to build trustworthy and robust socio-technical systems that successfully integrate intelligent capabilities into the core of the business environment.
